As we look back on the lives of our ancestors, we wish they had left more clues for us; maybe information on the back of photos or stories to help us connect the dots of their lives. And so this page will contain breadcrumbs for our future generations. This will be the here and now of the Berg Family in the twenty-first century.
The Berg Family Tree on Ancestry.com.au will continue to build the big picture of where we came from, but hopefully these pages will map the current journey of the descendants of Alfred Berg. Family members have agreed to share their photos and stories so that the Berg story will continue to be told.

Hi Linda, because Grandfather sailed from Sweden to Australia, presumably over many years, we’re not sure where he may have stopped along the way, and which name he was using at the time. His birth name was Bergman, being the son of Otto Bergman, also known as Otto Johansson (the patronymic name).
I don’t know when Grandfather changed his name from Bergman to Berg, but I suspect it was after he arrived in Australia. Other family members from Sweden may have travelled, and may also have shortened their name to Berg.
Have you taken a DNA test with any of the major genealogy companies? Mine is tested through Ancestry, but I have also uploaded the raw data to MyHeritage and a few others. I hope we can find a connection. Maureen

Hi Linda,
I’ve just found some documents on Ancestry that might match your grandmother. My email address is: Maureen@MaureenDurney.com. If you email me, I can send you a copy of what I have found.
